Pack Forest campout (February 2016)

Troop 598 staged its annual Pack Forest campout Feb. 6-7 2016. The service project took us to a new area as we cleared ground debris farther into the University of Washington facility than previous years. Afterward, some of the scouts worked with Mr. Leon on the Soil and Water Conservation merit badge while part of the remaining group embarked on a hike through the woods and hillside. Back in camp some of the scouts helped our visiting Webelos work on skills at the axe pit, fire ring and camp kitchen areas. Overnight the crisp weather lost its edge making way for a pleasant Sunday morning with a hearty Mountain Man breakfast before a final cleanup in the cabins and picnic shelter. A couple of the new scouts worked on an orienteering course before the final departure.
