WashJam 2016

Troop 598 took part in the 2016 Washington Jamboree at nearby JBLM in Tacoma. Washjam offered a vast range of activities and demonstrations for all types of Scouts: archery, chess, miniature golf, automotive maintenance, ham radio, coin collecting, rocketry, fly fishing, cooking, axe throwing, wilderness survival, and many, many (many!) others. There were native American teepees and a Civil War encampments as well as impressive military vehicles that the scouts could climb through. Throughout the grounds were massive pioneering structures constructed by the Order of the Arrow members. After a scorching Friday afternoon, Scouts rocked the evening away with the US Army band. On Saturday, gale force winds ripped through the area and wreaked havoc on the tents and shelters. After considering the safety of the Scouts and equipment the decision was made to break camp early and the Troop headed home following the evening flag ceremony,
