Rain greeted the scouts in Troop 598 as they arrived for their campout at Pack Forest Feb. 7-8 2015. After cleaning up the grounds around the cabins as a service project, part of the group embarked on a 10-mile hike through the woods and hillside. Those that remained in camp brushed up on skills at the axe pit, camp kitchen and the orienteering course. Overnight the foul weather cleared up making way for a pleasant Sunday morning with a hearty Mountain Man breakfast before a final cleanup in the cabins and picnic shelter. Several of the scouts stayed to complete a one-mile orienteering course.
The troop also was pleased to welcome some visiting Cub Scouts for the weekend.
