Scout Troop 598 had a few brave souls take the plunge this morning at Point Defiance/Owen Beach — but it takes a special kind of crazy to dry off and then run into the Puget Sound the second time. Awesome!!!

Troop 598 held its first meeting at a new location Sept. 11 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in downtown Puyallup.

Summer Camp at Fire Mountain

Troop 598 headed to BSA Camp Fire Mountain this summer. The scouts worked on a variety of merit badges that included: Camping, Rowing, Geology, Communications, Wilderness Survival, Citizenship in the World, Woodcarving, Space Exploration, Art, Environmental Science, Leatherwork, First Aid, Robotics, Geocaching, Pioneering, Mammal Study, Nature, Game Design, Archeology, Indian Lore and more. Highlights included an impressive death-defying quarter-mile zipline that extended out over the lake (zipline photos here).

Grab some popcorn (your Scout did sell popcorn this year, right?) and make yourself comfortable… here is the entire collection 400+ photos of Troop 598 at summer camp!!

Zipline at Fire Mountain summer camp

One of the coolest things for those at Fire Mountain this summer was the chance to brave the quarter-mile zipline that stretched out over Challenge Lake to a landing pad on the island. Court of Honor (June 2017)

Troop 598 held a Court of Honor June 19 at Karshner Elementary in Puyallup. Highlights were rank advancements and many merit badges earned, as well as a nice visit from Alex, who had recently been awarded Eagle Scout (though he had not yet applied the Eagle Scout patch to his uniform).
